Guidelines for Requesting Independent Research (IR) Support
In alignment with BioMarin’s commitment to scientific innovation and areas of unmet medical need, BioMarin may provide material and funding support for independent research in rare diseases and genetic disorders.
In order to be considered for support, Independent Research must:
- Illustrate potential to foster knowledge and understanding of BioMarin products, product candidates, or disease-state understanding
- Result in a tangible scientifically-centered deliverable, such as a publication
This program does not provide support for animal model studies; CME or non-CME educational activities; event sponsorships; and research supported by patient organizations.
BioMarin complies with all applicable transparency reporting and disclosure obligations, including under the Physician Payments Sunshine Act. Accordingly, payments provided to U.S. healthcare professionals, including physicians and teaching hospitals, will be reported as required.
As such, effective August 1, 2013, all study funding involving U.S. healthcare professionals will require reporting of payments or transfers of value provided to faculty and participants. Any questions regarding these reporting requirements may be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org.
