Summary Description
The Latin America Controller leads the regional Controllership function, overseeing financial operations across multiple countries. This role ensures compliance, drives operational efficiency, and acts as a strategic partner to the business. The Controller manages a team of four direct reports and is responsible for accounting, accounts payable, tax, payroll, and statutory compliance.
The Controller will also manage the relationship with the key outsource provider, who manages operational finance activities in the region. On an ad-hoc basis, the Controller will be required to manage key projects within the region as they relate to financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Governance
- Lead the Finance team for Latin America, fostering a high-performance culture and cross-functional collaboration.
- Manage a team of four, overseeing their tasks, providing coaching, and ensuring they achieve their goals
Financial Operations & Compliance
- Oversee local financial reporting, accounting, and statutory compliance across Latin America.
- Review month and quarterly close under US GAAP;
- Review and report SoX quarterly controls as per Global PBC
- Ensure timely and accurate month-end close,
- Supervise internal controls, external audits, and risk mitigation processes.
- Review Journal entries
Strategic Initiatives
- Lead transformation projects from the perspective of LATAM Finance
- Implement tax planning strategies and manage VAT-related projects, generating significant annual savings. Lead the project to make sure tax compliance given the upcoming Brazilian Tax reform;
Process Optimization & Cost Management
- Interact with Global Sourcing Team as to make sure the region has proper oversight provided by that group
- Manage relationship with Finance third party service providers
- Drive initiatives for time and cost savings within the finance function, including process improvements and automation
Treasury & Cash Management
- Manage liquidity and treasury operations for the region fully aligned with Global Treasury
- Approve banking payments and payroll across Latin America.
Performance Management
- Establish KPIs and metrics to monitor Finance team effectiveness, including outsourced operations.
Education and Experience
- Accounting/Business, IT, or other related accounting qualifications
- Have previous experience in Accounting in a multi-national organisation.
- Have previous experience in SAP and Ariba
- Strong interpersonal and organisational skills
- Strong analytical skills
- Management experience preferred
- Proficient on Microsoft office especially Excel/Word/Outlook
