BioMarin’s purpose is to be the biotech leader that translates the promise of genetic discovery into medicines that make a profound impact on the life of each patient. In pursuit of this purpose, we are mindful of our environmental footprint and committed to helping create a more sustainable, inclusive and compassionate world through constructive corporate responsibility practices.
We believe in setting the right tone at the top of BioMarin about the critical importance of environmental and sustainability matters. We have several employee teams organized to promote a healthy workplace and sustainability at BioMarin, including a cross-functional environmental, social and governance (ESG) team comprised of organizational leaders, a Global Environmental Sustainability Committee, local green teams on each of our campuses and a Green Team Employee Resource Group. These teams are guided by the strategy and goals set by our ESG Executive Steering Committee, which is comprised of top executives, including our chief company officers for Legal, Compliance, Finance/Investor Relations, Technical Operations, People and Corporate Affairs. In addition, the BioMarin Board of Directors’ Corporate Governance Nominating Committee provides further oversight of all ESG activities.
BioMarin is dedicated to fostering transparency in ESG initiatives across our company. We engage with stakeholders and prioritize ESG efforts in areas most impactful to our patients, employees, local communities and regulatory bodies. Through collaboration and expertise, we build meaningful relationships with patient communities and those where we live and work, transforming insights into actionable results and striving to reduce our environmental footprint.
