Who is at risk?

Achondroplasia is the most common form of skeletal dysplasia, affecting 1 in 20,000 individual in Australia.1 Early recognition and management is critical: children under 5 years of age with achondroplasia are at increased risk of sudden death and growth delay.2,3 The time to act is now.

What are the treatment options?

Until recently, therapeutic options were limited and focused mainly on management of complications and optimising function.4 The first targeted therapy for the treatment of achondroplasia was registered for use in Australia in 2022.5
