Cara Bauer serves as Executive Vice President, Chief People Officer of BioMarin, with responsibility for leading the company’s people organization, including people business partners, talent acquisition, learning and development, compensation and benefits, systems and operations, and diversity, equity, and inclusion. She joined BioMarin in October 2026.

Cara has more than 25 years of experience in global human resources leadership, building and scaling global organizations and serving as a strategic advisor and trusted business partner to leaders across a range of industries, including the biopharmaceutical, technology and entertainment sectors.

Prior to joining BioMarin, Cara served as Chief Human Resources Officer at Kyverna Therapeutics, where she brought expertise in human resources strategy, culture building and talent development. Before that, she was Global Head of Human Resources at Kite, a Gilead Company, helping drive the company’s hypergrowth into the world leader in cell therapy for hematology, and Global Head of HR for the Entertainment Division at Riot Games. She also held HR leadership roles at Netflix, Amgen, Gartner and Novo Nordisk.

Cara received a bachelor’s degree in industrial and organizational psychology from DePaul University and a Ph.D. in industrial and organizational psychology from Wayne State University.

Outside of work, Cara stays active and loves seeking out experiences such as travel, live music, great food, the arts and discovering new places. She is a devoted dog person and, most of all, enjoys spending time with family and friends, ideally combining all of the above.
